Love Spun

When you think of love

with what do you think?

Would it be your heart

where that feeling breathes

with a beat—infinite and pure

of something in which

you have never been more sure.

Or is it nothing more

than your head

which will always lead

to seeing red

as lust it dances

delicate through your bed.

Where nothing is sacred

except for the blood

you have longed wish to shed.

But when I think of love

I see a light

that shall awaken any given night

lit so incandescent

burnt so damn bright.

Its shadows are cast so brilliant

that a man feels shaken

free of his might.

Only to leave him humbled

with a purpose that paints him resilient.

Whereas his ignorance

will soon take to flight

when he sees love within his sight.

And should we look to God

whom we have never seen

but always felt

anytime we allow

our hearts to melt.

Knowing that his hand is the one

From which love’s feeling was dealt.

And it is this love that pours from me

leaving me as free

as I shall ever be

while my heart it aims

to do as He may please.

My roots are buried in the Dirty South. I grew up learning the importance of God and Southern Charm. I began writing in my late teens mostly through heartbreak and music. I moved out west 15 years ago and live right around the corner from the Fountain Of Youth. Most people refer to it as Lake Tahoe. I play Chef during the day and search for ways to save the world by night, through reading, writing, and believing. I enjoy the side of life that is less abrasive. I look forward to joining you on my quest through Spiritual Sobriety with the Promised Land as our ultimate destination.
