Here is but a bit of change

so allow me to arrange

your head with my heart.

For it is your soul

in which these words

shall speak so plain.

This is but a moment in time

in which of yours

I wish to engage.

So that maybe your life

will begin to rhyme

as will mine.

So allow me not to waste

much more of this precious time.

Let us say by chance

you have taken habit

to the delightful taste of fruit

and it is through

a hint of happenstance

that you awake one day

upon a pillar of proof

built anew with mystical attributes

wrapped in the truth

of hope’s warming cocoon.

Though it is true

that no longer

do you find neediness

nor the longing

for some sensuous sweetness

of said forbidden fruit.

Instead you plant a seed,

grow a garden to tend with neatness.

You watch as your wisdom

starts to sprout with a new faith,

all the while you wait

til the time it comes

to harvest the eternal joy

beneath an endless sun.

Yet from this garden

you pick, while I pull

from the light of you.

And it is as you see fit,

that all one should need

should be just enough to feed

our escalating spirits.

Try it if you may,

But I have seen it

so much that my soul

has grown to know it,

knowing now how to grow it.

For His words have harkened

that I keep this garden

kept sweet and neat

while the dust of eternity’s carbon

gathers at my feet.

And in a waking dream

the dream it came to tend

to this garden of my belief.

But then the dream it drove away

so as I bow my head and pray.

I now know that this dream

has drawn more keen to me

with each and every passing day.

But in the meantime these wings

that some call words

they build with me

as I bask in the building joy

within this coming of age sort of story.

That’s change

it may sound strange.

But something inside you

just rearranged.

My roots are buried in the Dirty South. I grew up learning the importance of God and Southern Charm. I began writing in my late teens mostly through heartbreak and music. I moved out west 15 years ago and live right around the corner from the Fountain Of Youth. Most people refer to it as Lake Tahoe. I play Chef during the day and search for ways to save the world by night, through reading, writing, and believing. I enjoy the side of life that is less abrasive. I look forward to joining you on my quest through Spiritual Sobriety with the Promised Land as our ultimate destination.
