Jubilee

Go ahead, roll down

the windows of yourself.

It’s good for your health

to empty the head

from a thought gone passed

tucked into yesterday’s bed.

While the promise of tomorrow

sings with the sun

it is this burning desire

from which I must run.

For no longer

do I look to borrow

from the deepened fire

of anyone’s sorrow.

For my pain

it has already pranced

through the rain.

And my brain

it has been rearranged

to pick and choose

from the thoughts

that no longer sit so tight

scattered so blue.

So here’s to the wealth

of a satisfied mind.

Like the wick of a candle

I did burn it down

to the end of my own mess

I now know how to handle.

For my mind it fell open

lit by a flame burning with finesse.

And this window of me

shall remain open

with the winds of change

blowing so free.

And now it is time

for the world to see

what is to finally be

of Love’s Jubilee.

My roots are buried in the Dirty South. I grew up learning the importance of God and Southern Charm. I began writing in my late teens mostly through heartbreak and music. I moved out west 15 years ago and live right around the corner from the Fountain Of Youth. Most people refer to it as Lake Tahoe. I play Chef during the day and search for ways to save the world by night, through reading, writing, and believing. I enjoy the side of life that is less abrasive. I look forward to joining you on my quest through Spiritual Sobriety with the Promised Land as our ultimate destination.
