This beach it breathes

salty within me

my feet finally at ease

while my soul

it sails with the breeze.

Then came a chill

that moved on down my spine

ever so still

followed by a memory

while these waves

they wash on over me.

And my head

it fell beneath the sand

for this is the way my heart

it had always planned.

And as I went to take

my final stand

came a sound

remiscent of a paradise found.

But upon my head

something knocked

fallen harder

than any ole rock.

And I stood stoned

ever so dizzy.

My feet no longer moved

quite so easy

and my stomach it moaned

a bit to queasy.

And as my eyes fell closed

spilled was the sweetest milk

filling my soul

soft as the silk

of an eternal bliss.

And as I took one last rest

I thought of a life

that gave it, its best

until that last and final breath.

So came those lights of heaven

for they shined upon me

And as I stood so patient

beside that pearly gate

For my day of judgment had come

maybe a moment to soon

But the man behind the curtain

he had something else in mind

and of this he seemed certain.

Then he said this to me

you wild and sweet son of mine

now is not your time.

For you have a light

that fills the loveless night

in a world so dark.

Yet think more carefully

next time you stand so free

smitten by a memory

beneath some coconut tree.

And please remember to be

the man you’ve always seen.

Then I came to

under a sky so blue

gasping for any air

that once more

filled my breath

with a second chance so fair.

For I had escaped

another dance with death.

My roots are buried in the Dirty South. I grew up learning the importance of God and Southern Charm. I began writing in my late teens mostly through heartbreak and music. I moved out west 15 years ago and live right around the corner from the Fountain Of Youth. Most people refer to it as Lake Tahoe. I play Chef during the day and search for ways to save the world by night, through reading, writing, and believing. I enjoy the side of life that is less abrasive. I look forward to joining you on my quest through Spiritual Sobriety with the Promised Land as our ultimate destination.
