An Empty Well

Last night I came to see

that my soul snuck in

looking all throughout me

for its existence

it aimed to find

and all it seemed to need.

Then that existence

it listened

and wouldn’t you know

this is what it mentioned.

“I was made to exist

by the one who hides,

it is in your heart

where the king in you resides.”

“So take this reason

and fill it with a life’s worth

full of patience,

then and only then

will your mind begin

to run free, open through the spacious”

Then my soul it answered,

“And just as water

shall rinse me clean,

will I love through this invisible

for that is where the heart is truly seen,

through the eyes of a king.”

Then I myself came to share,

“I shall float through this ocean

we men call life,

with the ship of my soul

guiding me through these motions

staring down the sun

even as I grow so old.”

Just then

the king, he chimed in,

“But please be careful not to fall

for that is when

you stumble upon that storied well

filled by the fools of man

and all of his forsaken sin,

unless you have a bucket

and it’s a story you must tell

about a blessed heart

that made that fall

with such grace

And with which a bucket

he emptied that well of man

and rinsed him clean of all sin.”

My roots are buried in the Dirty South. I grew up learning the importance of God and Southern Charm. I began writing in my late teens mostly through heartbreak and music. I moved out west 15 years ago and live right around the corner from the Fountain Of Youth. Most people refer to it as Lake Tahoe. I play Chef during the day and search for ways to save the world by night, through reading, writing, and believing. I enjoy the side of life that is less abrasive. I look forward to joining you on my quest through Spiritual Sobriety with the Promised Land as our ultimate destination.
