Gold Was The Road

I came upon a road

which intersected

at the heart of me.

For one way

would take my mind

the other

my soul was meant to find.

Mistook by my own mistakes

I fell behind

in the purpose of a moment

where I saw what I thought

was such beauty

yet so delicate did I unwind it.

Instead I turned it around

towards the direction

of this pride

I can no longer hide

where it ran scared

all the way up

just to fall back down

what some might call a spine.

That’s why this mind it went

where my heart was meant.

To move on I must

without a map to see

even through our dust

I aim to walk inspired

by a might to be.

So sung was our song

from the choir it sings

even though the chorus

it sang of a salty sea.

Yet these feet they move about

driven by a dance so free.

Silent shall I listen

to be a bit enlightened

by the echoes abound

from a story so blue

it will never be allowed

to make a single sound.

Yet I regret nothing

I ever read,

just maybe

some of the things I said.

Still must I walk

upon the gold

that fills this broken road

with a spirit bold

readied for the redemption

from what tomorrow

took in tow

a long damned time ago.

Still we are tied

with a silver lining

by the wildest of oats

sowed so long ago,

yet no longer can we float

above yesterday’s

suffocating undertow.

So from this sky

I wave goodbye

behind a swollen sigh

what was

will always shine

stuck timeless

in a simple snapshot

bound forever

by his handsome affinity.

But in tomorrow’s divinity

there is a smile

that’s starting to show

yet still unseen

though in my heart

it beats like a dream

and slowly does it glow

beneath the harmony

of heaven’s rhapsody

glittered with the hint

of ten thousand memories.

So down this road

I must continue to go

at the mercy of a path

touched so golden.

For this was the road

where I first felt the presence

of an eternal force unknown.

For the gold

it will always shone

but came a light

Someone so graceful has shown

where I wrote this all as written

from a word

my name has always known.
