Love Casted

For what you see

is what you get

so here it sits

plain as day.

Just a little love

cast among these stones

that all have thrown.

Still this heart

thumps the same

gentle without blame

—beaten unique

behind a cage built antique.

It gives what it takes

Grown stronger

With each day it awakes

while the stone it sinks on in

nestled next

to the sweet by and by

passed on by

just to be gone again

from whatever it is

your hate hangs on.

What it takes

to beat the hate

of a stone drawn

is no longer about

what is right

or might be wrong.

So I spill this ink

it’s all I can do

not to think

and through the heart

my spirit speaks

of hope and faith

and all of the other little things

that make tomorrow sing.

So take your fate

you might find you need it

when these bones and your stones

turn to brittle,

upon star-perished piles

of rust and dust,

all the while

love sweeps on in

the score left settled

still the stone it sits riddled

cast aside

by a little heart built with mettle.

My roots are buried in the Dirty South. I grew up learning the importance of God and Southern Charm. I began writing in my late teens mostly through heartbreak and music. I moved out west 15 years ago and live right around the corner from the Fountain Of Youth. Most people refer to it as Lake Tahoe. I play Chef during the day and search for ways to save the world by night, through reading, writing, and believing. I enjoy the side of life that is less abrasive. I look forward to joining you on my quest through Spiritual Sobriety with the Promised Land as our ultimate destination.
